The correlation of Infertility and Endometriosis

Women ranging from 25 to 35 years of age who are diagnosed with infertility are affected by Endometriosis. In fact, 18% of the women population diagnosed with this condition, have not fully grasped the cause and a solid theory is yet to be established by the medical experts.

It is a condition wherein the endometrial tissues are deposited in unlikely areas. Thus, endometrial tissues line not only the inside of the uterus but also outside, including the ovary, fallopian tubes, and even the intestines.

The growth of these tissues outside the uterus causes irritation in organs and is usually painful. It causes the backflow of menstruation onto the fallopian tubes and in turn can cause scarring. The scarring is a significant factor that causes infertility. Symptoms of Endometriosis

Is there a cure of Endometriosis and Infertility?

Surgery is the best alternative for Endometriosis. Although medications will be prescribed to heal the scarred tissues, surgery is often recommended for extensive scarring. This will exponentially increase the chances of getting pregnant.

Medical statistics could not provide exact figures as to the extent endometriosis affects the fertility of a woman, nor could figures be provided to show the increased chances of pregnancy, even if Endometriosis remains to be curable.

As endometriosis is said to be fueled by excessive estrogen production, the first aim of your treatment is to reduce the estrogen levels. Otherwise known as hormone treatments, these medications provide temporary improvement of the symptoms. This would break the cycle of endometriosis growth and are adequately effective in the treatment of the condition and increasing the chances of conception.
