Treating toothache naturally is an alternative many of us would want to take. One of the foremost things to consider when treating toothache is the fact that it strikes us when we least expect and often no immediate dental care is available. Or that it has been a recurring thing that we have used up our health and dental coverage, and the pain would still not go away.

One little toothache pain can progress into something really excruciating if left unaided, thus immediate attention and a thorough assessment of the cause is highly recommended. Toothache can be treated in a number of ways, apart from seeing your dentist for another round. Before you reach out for another pain reliever pill, check your kitchen cupboards for a natural treatment for toothache.

There are a number of herbs and essential oils found in our own gardens that can be used as extremely effective treatment for toothache pain. You can start by getting yourself a glassful of lookwarm water, dilute a scoop of rock salt and mix thoroughly. Gargle for a few minutes, concentrating on the affected tooth area. Salt water is good source of anti-bacterial. It cleans the wound area and prevents bacteria build up. You can repeat this procedure every after brushing your teeth and flossing gently.

Pain is the first signal of infection, and as the pain increases the possibility of a bigger infection becomes likely. To alleviate the pain, one can try a few drops of Oil of Clove. Clove Oil extract is also known for its antibacterial and analgesic properties. It is a good pain remedy as it acts by anesthetizing the affected area and acts on the infection also.

If Oil of Clove is not available, try peeling and crushing a clove of garlic, add a bit of salt onto the clove and place it on the painful area for about five minutes or until the pain eases out a bit. It may not taste or smell so pretty after but it is a sure way to alleviate pain soonest.

Convincing your kids to try the above option would be a bit harder, so there is a yummier way of alleviating toothache pain naturally. Gather a few mint leaves, wash the leaves thoroughly and crush them a bit. Allow your kid chew on the mint leaves for about five minutes and you'll discover that the pain isn't so excruciating anymore.

You can also soak a cotton ball in a bit of vanilla extract and put a few drops on the infected tooth. This is a favorite remedy for toothache pain as it tastes and smells sweet. Two or three drops of the extract directly on the tooth will provide your kid instant relief from the pain. Once you have started administering first aid, lie on your side to alleviate the pressure and gently massage the gum area and your temple in a circular motion. A pack of ice would also ease the pain.

Natural ways are readily available to instantly relieve you of the pain. Yet if the toothache persists for days, you should have the tooth checked for a possible bigger problem. The above remedies would assure you of instant relief and a prevention of further infection. However, it is still best to speak to a medical professional to know the depth of the problem and get advice on the proper treatment for toothache as soon as possible.
